Parks & Hiking
Carpinteria Community Pool
A city-run outdoor pool kept at about 80 degrees year-round, with parent-and-child, preschool and leveled swim lessons plus a youth swim team and water polo club. The schedule is mostly lap swim and lessons, and the pool closes for high school water polo games and swim meets, so check the monthly calendar first. Anyone with hair longer than chin length must wear a swim cap.
Day pass $5.50 youth (12 & under), $7 adultCarpinteria Creek Park
A one-acre creekside park off Bailard Avenue at Via Real, next to the bike path, with two natural climbing structures, picnic tables and a steelhead trout sculpture with signs about the endangered fish. There are no restrooms or barbecues, so plan accordingly. Pair it with a ride on the adjoining bike path.
FreeCarpinteria Skate Park
A 19,500-square-foot skate area on the City Hall campus at 5775 Carpinteria Ave, with a plaza and picnic area, restrooms and its own small lot. Helmets, elbow pads and knee pads are required at all times, and kids under 12 must be with an adult. Skateboards, scooters and skates are allowed, but bikes are not.
FreeEl Carro Park
A large neighborhood park at 5300 El Carro Lane (also reachable from Foothill Road), next to Girls Inc., with a children's playground, two ball fields, a soccer field, three barbecue sites and two restroom buildings. It is the town's busiest youth-sports park on weekends. Barbecue sites can be reserved through the city.
FreeHeath Ranch Park
A pleasant neighborhood park between Eucalyptus Lane and Chaparral Drive that holds the ruins of Russell Heath's mid-1850s adobe home, a city historical landmark. Giant eucalyptus trees and a concrete statue remain among the ruins. It is a short, free history stop for kids learning local history.
FreeMemorial Park
A small veterans' memorial park north of the 101 at Santa Ynez and Aragon streets that the city describes as great for young children. It has a playground, a large lawn and two reservable barbecue sites. It works well as a quick toddler stop away from beach crowds.
FreeMonte Vista Park
A four-acre neighborhood park at the north end of Bailard Avenue with a children's play area, open lawn, barbecues and a restroom, plus big views of the Santa Ynez Mountains. The city has announced a permanent dog park is coming here. It is a quieter alternative to the beach-area parks, a few minutes from the Bluffs trailhead.
FreeTomol Interpretive Play Area
An award-winning, universally accessible playground at Carpinteria State Beach themed around a Chumash village, with a play cave, boulders to climb, and a plank canoe (tomol) structure kids can board — a genuinely distinctive design, not a standard play structure.
FreeCarpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve
A bluff-top preserve and coastal trail directly above the harbor seal rookery, with a dedicated overlook for watching seals haul out below — a quieter, walkable counterpart to the main Carpinteria State Beach entry.

$15 per personCarpinteria City Beach Boathouse Rentals & Lessons
The city runs a summer boathouse on the city beach that rents kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and boogie boards, and teaches youth and family surf, kayak and SUP lessons. Lifeguards staff the Linden, Holly and Ash towers daily from mid-June to mid-August and on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Mobi mats reach the sand at every city entrance, and free beach wheelchairs are available at the towers during staffed weekend hours.
Boogie board $5/hr; kayak or SUP $21/hr; group lessons $26/person (2026 prices)Rincon Beach Park
A Santa Barbara County day-use park about three miles east of Carpinteria at the Ventura County line, reached from the Bates Road exit off the 101. It is best known for its surf break. Families come for the ocean views, picnic area, restrooms and beach walks, but swim only when conditions are calm, and keep away from surfers in the line-up.
