- Library card: Summerland has no library; Santa Barbara Public Library's Montecito branch on East Valley Road is the nearest, open Tuesday through Saturday.
- Find your school: Summerland is in Carpinteria Unified; its small Summerland Elementary is at 135 Valencia Road.
- Enrollment: Carpinteria Unified handles new-student enrollment online through its district website.

Library on the Go at Lookout Park
The Santa Barbara Public Library's mobile library parks at Lookout Park with books for all ages. You can check out, return items or sign up for a card, then play at the park's playground. It's canceled in bad weather.

Oceanview Park
A 3.4-acre county park at Greenwell Ave and Via Real on Summerland's east side, with short trails, picnic tables, bird watching and ocean views. There's no playground or restrooms, so it works best as a quick walk with a view.
FreeToro Canyon Park
A 74-acre wooded county park in the foothills between Summerland and Carpinteria, with a short trail up to an overlook gazebo, BBQs, restrooms and a fenced, oak-shaded off-leash dog area. The county says the playground at picnic Area 1 is being removed because of irreparable damage, so don't count on a playground. It's about 3 miles up Toro Canyon Rd from Via Real.

Summerland's short main street of antique and vintage shops, anchored by the Summerland Antique Collective's multi-dealer space at 2192 Lillie Ave. Many items are fragile, so it's best kept to a quick browse with older kids before or after Lookout Park.

Summerland Beach at Lookout Park
A county bluff-top park in the small town of Summerland with a playground, volleyball, picnic tables, a dog wash, and a paved path down to a calm, sandy beach — one of the few SoCal beaches where horseback riding is permitted.
