SDSU's astronomy department and the Forest Service run summer public nights that start with a talk at the Harrington Visitors Center. If skies are clear, visitors then look through the observatory's 21-inch telescope. It's at 6,100 feet and gets cold after dark even in July, so bring jackets, and call 619-594-1415 for the schedule.
