Ocean Beach Athletic Area Playground

Ocean Beach, CA

★★★★4.4(1,116 Google reviews)

A small grassy park with play equipment set back a block from the sand — useful when the beach wind gets to be too much for little kids. There's a public restroom here, worth knowing when the beach ones are jammed on a summer weekend.

Expansive park with several ballfields, large but sparse dog park, and limited number of trees providing shade. NOTE: City council doesn't have the ability to solve cities financial issues - they're as creative as a dirt clod, so this park may fall victim to fiscal closure in near future. If all would avoid taxpayer supported lunches, they could probably come up with the spare change to keep facilities open.(Note: not one of the parks considered for closure is anywhere near the mayor and councils' neighborhoods).

This is a large park with athletic fields for baseball, and a large field for dogs to run around in (not a fully gated dog park, but you can let your dog off the leash if they wont run away). This is not my favorite park, but there is tons of green grass, some trees to sit under and enjoy the shade, and a few dogs to see here and there...not many. This is more of a place to get quiet time alone.

A beautiful place for a relaxing day or a run for the pups. Large area to walk around and no waves for the dogs. Lots of beautiful landscape and wildlife to photograph. The pups will thank you

I happened upon this park because of the kite festival. It appears to be a great place to fly kites. I was there are about a week later, just to have a picnic and enjoy the sunshine away from the beach and appears that there are a variety of activities at this park including tennis, kids soccer practice, there’s a skate park, and plenty of area to walk around on trails or paved roads. Although rollerskating on these roads is not recommended considering the cracks and upheavals. I will definitely return to this park again.

Fields are ok, a bit rough in spots. There is a lot of parking, but with only one way in/out, it takes quite a while to get parked and get out during a tournament.
