This cobbly state beach just west of downtown is popular for surfing and fishing, and the Ventura River estuary at its southeast end draws herons and other wildlife. There are also ruins of a World War II artillery site. North Beach was fully closed for road and Caltrans overpass work from August 2025 through June 2026; day use reopened with traffic controls, which are expected through December 2027, and the campground has no reopening date.
