The visitor center at 906 W Sinclair Rd has a gift shop, restrooms and a bird diorama, and the picnic area, an observation tower and the self-guided Rockhill Trail (about 2 miles round trip to a Salton Sea overlook) start next to the parking lot. Winter is peak bird season; from June to September it is extremely hot with the center closed, so skip it or go at sunrise. Phone (760) 348-5278.
