A small free museum of Kumeyaay history and culture, with changing artifact displays, some interactive parts and short animated films of origin stories that hold younger children. Reviewers say it takes well under an hour, so pair it with something else nearby. Staff are described as warm and unhurried.
California's first Native American museum on a reservation, dedicated to sharing local Kumeyaay culture through artifacts, baskets and hands-on exhibits. Admission is free and the space is welcoming for curious kids. Call ahead if you'd like to arrange a guided group tour.

I like this Native American Museum more than the others I have been to. I have visited the Chumash Museam and I have visited some native museums in Balboa Park. This one was more authentic than the others. It felt like I visited their home. I might be autistic and she listened to me when I spoke with her unlike other people in San Diego really did listen and did not interrupt. And gave me a warm filling when I Left like I have a friend who cares and is real in San Diego. I think she was Native American and more than pretty and nice! I was embarrassed. In a time of sadness for me she sparked in a flame of life in me somehow. I do wish I can see her again!!
