Dunes Park
Imperial Beach, CA

A small oceanfront pocket park right on Seacoast Drive with grassy areas, picnic tables and quick beach access — a calm alternative to the busy pier area for a snack break with a sea view. Look for free parking along Daisy Avenue rather than circling the busier lots.

As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series and SERA Archives Thriller Series, I’ve spent a lot of time around Dunes Park, and it’s one of the best gathering spots near the south end of the beach. The park sits right next to the Pier South Resort and has a mix of features that make it easy to spend time here. There’s a full fitness setup, a basketball court, a playground, and open grassy areas with rolling hills that give the space some shape instead of feeling flat. The design has some nice architectural elements that help it stand out, and the views toward the Imperial Beach Pier are excellent. It’s a great place to sit, walk around, or just take in the ocean. It’s also been here a long time and feels like a true local hangout. You’ll see people exercising, families gathering, and others just relaxing near the beach. I’ve also spent time here walking and thinking through ideas while writing The Maui Desire Romance Series. It’s the kind of open, coastal setting where you get a mix of energy and quiet depending on the time of day. Overall, Dunes Park is a well-designed coastal park with great views, good amenities, and a strong connection to the Imperial Beach waterfront.

Great park, friendly neighborhood. You can bbq, walk onto the beach which is like 10-15 steps to the sand. I go here every Saturday morning @ 10am for the Dunes Park NA meeting. If you need a meeting, this one’s great!

Small beach front. Not too packed.Aside from the fact that the water was contaminated and we were not able to swim. My son enjoyed himself very much. Nicely located next to various restaurants and stores.

This park has an awesome view of the beach, bathrooms, sand showers, picnic tables, a basketball court, and is very clean. My family stayed in a condo overlooking this park, and it was cool seeing employees cleaning this park every morning. My kids had fun playing here. The sunset views are fantastic too.

Good outdoor gym and the beach and pier behind is always a nice breath of air when meeting the strong pacific at imperial beach. The park also have a small playground by the outdoor gym so easy to keep a watching eye for a child while training.
