One of the country's largest gourd farms, with sprawling fields and ancient oaks that make a memorable, offbeat outing for curious kids. Wander the grounds, picnic under the trees, and pick out a gourd to paint at home. Call ahead for large groups, and note it's closed Sundays.

I am a crafter and have recently discovered gourd art. OMG! It is awesome! Wood burning, dying, carving, stick and burn paper for creating patterns, pine needle rims…the list goes on. I also discovered Welburn gourd farm through online how to videos and have purchased 99% of my needs through them. Everything comes so well packaged, they have how-to videos, respond to emails and are incredibly pleasant on the phone when you have questions it’s amazing. It’s so nice to speak to a real person and they are really appreciative of your business. Their gourds are pricey but you can get an excellent deal when they have a sale and the gourds are thick skinned and beautiful!. I purchased the carver they recommend with the fillet point burr and it is amazing what you can do! Also purchased the wood burning tool. This company is great. Products arrive in good time. Highly recommend you check them out! Ps…I’ve worked with paint, glass, quilling, basket making, paper craft, textiles, wood and jewelry making… loving my gourd art as I can incorporate most of my other crafts into it. Currently working on incorporating gourd carving and quilling for interesting results! Check out welburn Gourd farm!!

So not that excited this round. I paid more money this time close to $100. For 3 large gourds. I use them as canvases ...& paint them, and carve them. I received 2 large gourds, over 12 inches and one that almost got to 10 inches, with a dent in one side. None of them kept their stem intact during shipping. Every one was broken off. Which is a major concern for me.

We drove up 2½hours to gather some gourd for our Tribal Harvest Gathering this weekend. The youth are going to make mini rattles (I will add some photos when we are done). This event was sponsored by Torres Martinez Youth Council and Jacob Ward Instructor. Great place lots of gourd and the staff was very helpful. We will be back

Welburn Gourd farm is such a fun outing!! We went as a family and the grounds are just beautiful. We met the new owners and they’ve done such a fantastic job of rebranding and livening up the place. It’s just stunning!!! We stayed in one of the cottages for a weekend as well and couldn’t get over the decor and how big it actually was on the inside. So excited to see their new garden come spring and walk the grounds with my kiddos. The shop is a must stop as well. I just love the variety they carry and can’t wait to grab a gourd with the kiddos and some paint supplies.

Welburn Farm has turned into my annual gourd trip. I was here a year ago and I went up last weekend to get gourds for an annual Christmas faire. It's a 2 1/2 hour trip for me but well worth it! I bought about 100 gourds to make Christmas ornaments and decor. Thousands to choose from, I chose the uncleaned ones, I like to clean them myself. There were no issues with ANY of the gourds. The staff was wonderful and very helpful with cleaning ideas, different stains to use, etc. I give Welburn Farms 5 stars and would recommend it to anyone that is a beginner to an expert. One more thing, the prices are excellent! My total was way below what I thought it would be. Have fun! This place is wonderful!! I drove up from San Ysidro because it was the only gourd place I could find. TIP: Do NOT follow Google maps. Follow the directions on their website. Funny story about that! They had thousands of gourds, all shapes and sizes in bins. Some were cleaned, the majority were not. I prefer the uncleaned because after you clean them it's a surprise to see the result. The staff was so nice and helpful and prices were great. I had to go back 2 weeks later because I needed their Proxxon jig saw for cutting. I couldn't figure out how to assemble it when I got home, so I called them and they helped me over the phone. I bought about 50 gourds and I can't wait until I finish them, so I can go back. Highly recommend if you're in the market for gourds.
