The county-run adobe from the first Mexican land grant in the San Diego area, with roots dating to 1823 and restored rooms you can tour on your own or with a guide. Resident goats are a hit with kids, and the grounds connect to more than 10 miles of trails into the canyon preserve. It's at the east end of the preserve, off Black Mountain Road.
