A 2,352-acre natural area in Rancho Peñasquitos whose 1,554-foot summit gives 360-degree views from the ocean to downtown. The 2.5-mile dirt summit trail from Hilltop Community Park (9711 Oviedo Way) is a real climb best for older kids; the 2.5-mile Miner's Ridge Loop off Black Mountain Road is gentler. Chaparral country, so bring water and sun protection.
