Founded in 1891 at the base of the original McFadden Wharf, the Dory Fleet is the last beachside fishing cooperative of its kind in the country, with fishermen still rowing out each morning to sell their catch straight off the sand. The current pier dates to 1940, rebuilt after the original wharf was destroyed by a hurricane the year before.

Newport Beach Pier is absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite places to visit in Southern California! The ocean views are breathtaking, especially around sunset, and the whole area has a wonderful, relaxing California atmosphere. Walking along the pier, watching the surfers and the waves, and enjoying the beach makes for a perfect evening. The surrounding area is lively, clean, and full of great places to eat and explore. Definitely a must-see when visiting Orange County. We loved it and would happily come back!

Newport Beach Pier is the heart of the classic California coast and a must-visit destination for those looking to soak up authentic beach town vibes. Unlike some of the busier piers, this one keeps its old-school charm, filled with local fishermen, sunset strollers, and surfers catching waves right by the wooden pilings. From the end of the pier, you get a breathtaking, unobstructed view of the vast Pacific Ocean and the stunning coastline lined with iconic beach houses. It is the perfect spot to catch a sunset as the sun literally sinks into the water, turning the sky into a masterpiece of colors.
