A natural desert park with an off-leash dog area. It is the trailhead for the Cahuilla Hills trail network, including the Hopalong Cassidy Trail, named for the Palm Desert-resident TV cowboy. Older kids can manage short out-and-backs. There is no shade, so go only early on warm days.
