Things to Do in Palm Desert with Kids

Palm Desert is the Coachella Valley's family heart, anchored by The Living Desert — a world-class zoo and botanical garden where you can hand-feed giraffes and ride an endangered-species carousel. Civic Center Park's 70 acres of playgrounds, lagoon and skate park make a free counterpoint, and the hands-on Children's Discovery Museum nearby is a lifesaver in the heat.

💡 Local tip: In summer The Living Desert shifts to 7am–1:30pm — go right at opening when the animals are active. Everything outdoors is a beat-the-heat morning play; save El Paseo strolls for the cooler evening.
