Collier Park (La Mesa)

La Mesa, CA

★★★★4.2(388 Google reviews)

La Mesa's oldest park reopened in 2024 after a full rebuild, with a brand-new playground, nature trails, shaded seating and shared tennis and pickleball courts. At under eight acres it's easy to keep eyes on younger kids while they roam.

Took the grandkids to burn off some 6 year old rambunctiousness. They enjoyed the climbing, swinging, and gyrating structures. I liked that the park design buffers visitors from the busy street. Kids and toys tend to stay in the lower areas. My favorite section is the nature play area, landscaped with native plant species and eucalyptus logs.

Great Park. Fantastic spot for some pickleball, great courts. And hey, maybe you could take that special someone here for a little picnic 😄

REMODELED IN NOV 2023 - We are so lucky to live near this park. The redesign is beautiful, thoughtful, and themed around bringing kids and people close to nature. On weekends at peak times it’s usually packed. The play structure (designed for ages 5-12) is a hit with my toddler and other younger kids, although there’s not a real ‘tiny tot’ playground. It’s a small park but it has everything—including new bathrooms. If you plan on using the tables on a weekend, they might be reserved for a party, but there are plenty of sunny and shady places to sit and eat, plus a fun mini nature trail in the back with native plants and forest activities.

New clean park with kids and adult outdoor gyms. Pickle ball courts. Scenic picnic spots with stumps for a table and seating. Apparently there's an amphitheater here. Nice sidewinder trails and views. Clean restrooms but no toilet paper.
