Powder Canyon Trailhead (Puente Hills)
La Habra, CA

Just up in La Habra Heights, this Puente Hills trailhead opens onto oak-and-walnut woodland with panoramic hilltop views. The Fullerton Road trailhead has parking, restrooms and drinking fountains for an easy out-and-back with kids. Go early in summer for shade and bring water — little cover on the ridgelines.

Did the hike named Powder Canyon Loop from alltrails on a Friday afternoon late January. Can park along Fullerton Road right after Rowland Water District, and you'll see the trail going up on your right. It was lush green and the trail was easy to follow. Total came to around 7 miles with 1300 feet elevation gain. No permit or entry fee needed.

This is one of my absolute favorite local trails. The loop I usually take takes about 45–55 minutes and I’d rate the difficulty around 2 out of 5—manageable, but still a great workout. Instead of an out-and-back, I created a loop route that starts at Powder Canyon, continues through Black Walnut Trail, and comes back via Nogales Trail. The route begins with a steady uphill climb, reaches the top, and then finishes with a nice downhill section, which makes it both challenging and enjoyable. Even though it’s under an hour, it really gets your heart rate up, and the surrounding greenery and open space make it a refreshing place to exercise. Parking is available nearby, and I’ve marked the route with arrows on the map—definitely check it before you go, as it helps a lot. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a short but effective hike close to home.

Hidden gem of a park. Great for hikes runs and walks. For kids and grown-ups, you'll enjoy the rolling hillsides, quiet nature sounds and a variety of trails that would please any exercise aficionado . A strong 3.75. Star trail. Missing, are facilities , trail guides and signage. Beyond that, have fun and happy trails!

Have been coming here for around almost 10 years. I've done the slopes and walked the straight paths. Always a great scenic experience with many friendly passerby. It's not always packed full of people so don't expect much crowds. Parking is in a dirt road but not too bad and as a new pup dad it was perfect for a nice early afternoon stroll down the straight paths with our 1 year old. I have hiked and walked during several different times of the day and never encountered any issues. As a nature lover, I enjoy observing the local wildlife like deer, blue birds, and squirrels. ***There is shade on the straight paths for those looking for a nice little stroll in nature****

Plenty of free parking. Trails are a variety of flat and some steep parts. Nice views of the snowy mountains after the rain.
