Wildhaven Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary
Lake Arrowhead, CA
By Simir Shah
★★★★★4.5(54 Google reviews)
A small nonprofit sanctuary in Cedar Glen caring for rescued indigenous animals like black bears, bobcats, foxes and birds of prey, with docent-led programs such as Bear Watch. You must reserve ahead — drop-ins aren't allowed — so book through their website before you drive up. It's an intimate, education-focused visit rather than a big zoo, memorable for animal-loving kids.

We visited Wildhaven Ranch this afternoon. What an amazing experience. An absolutely charming director. Knowledgeable staff. Spectacular ambassador animals, including bobcat, golden eagle, and of course the bears. And they do the good work of rescuing injured native species and releasing them back into the wild. We definitely recommend a visit. We will be back.

Wildhaven is a sanctuary for hurt or abandoned wild animals, where they are either rehabilitated and released back into the wild, or if that isn't possible, kept and cared for. It's obvious the staff (paid and volunteers) care deeply for the animals. They give tours by reservation, and the staff is very knowledgeable. I highly recommend a visit!

Loved the experience, they had the viewing of the animals set up nicely. It was very interesting. Loved the howling coyotes and how we have a better understanding of them now. We live in coyote country and have always hated the howling now that we understand it better it won't be so bad. I would definitely visit again.

Such a cool experience! The animals were amazing and the tour hosts were super knowledge. Such a great cause for animals who would've died or been abandoned! We did the extra bear feeding and it was an awesome end to the tour.

Great place to take the kids to learn about bears. and eagles. Followed CDC for social distancing during our tour.
