  Oh dear. We, as "members" of The UCI Langston Orange County Museum of Art, attended a sort of reception for the sort of grand opening of this museum merger. So far, everything we feared with UCI's expedient merger is unfolding. It is, so far, pretty awful. The outside of OCMA is kinda neat, the inside is definitely not. There actually is modern art that is totally worth seeing and telling the California story from the 60's on. You won't find it here. And today, on the birth of what is supposed to be a joint Early California and Modern Art exhibit, all you will see is a huge disappointment. Instead of the lovely, inspirational work of the UCI Langston Hughes Museum, all we get is a low-level county government, sloppily thrown together "show".

  We went as a family, parked at South Coast plaza. We enjoyed the museum- kids thought the art was weird- they enjoyed the engagement hall with the magnetic poetry and listening to records. Cute little gift shop too!
