Things to Do in Malibu with Kids

Malibu stretches along more than twenty miles of coastline where the Santa Monica Mountains meet the sea, threaded by the Pacific Coast Highway. Its beaches range from the wide sands of Zuma to the tide pools and bluff trails of Point Dume and the lagoon and historic Adamson House at Surfrider Beach. Inland, Malibu Creek State Park offers oak-shaded hiking away from the surf.

📍 Where Malibu is

Malibu sits in Los Angeles, Southern California. Nearest major airport: LAX (Los Angeles Intl) (~21 mi / 34 km). It's roughly 30 mi (48 km) from Downtown LA and 129 mi (208 km) from San Diego — SoCal traffic can make a drive take far longer than the distance suggests, so plan around it.

💡 Local tip: Zuma has the largest lots and easiest family facilities; arrive before late morning in summer, as beach parking along PCH fills fast on warm days.
