Serra Mesa–Kearny Mesa Library
This Mission-style SDPL branch on Aero Drive has an outdoor play area built with First 5 San Diego, three patios and a fenced vernal-pool habitat out back. Its 88-space lot makes parking easy. Check the branch calendar for storytime days.
FreeKearny Mesa Community Park
This 70-acre city park off Mesa College Drive has a tot lot, lighted ball fields, a soccer field, picnic areas, restrooms and a fenced leash-free dog park, next to the pool and BMX track. Parking is plentiful, and the rec center welcomes party jumps (rental fees apply).

Kearny Mesa Pool
This L-shaped city pool is a designated arthritis-therapy pool kept near 85°F, and it has a 2.5-foot wading area that's good for little swimmers. Heated outdoor showers and two shaded spectator areas round it out. It reopens January 9, 2027 after annual maintenance.
$2.25 kids/seniors, $5 adults (16+)San Diego BMX
One of only two sanctioned BMX race tracks left in San Diego County, it sits at Kearny Mesa Recreation Park. Its leaderboard includes riders as young as 9, and practice days are the place for beginners to start. Contact the track operator through USA BMX for gear rules and first-timer info.

This Japanese secondhand chain in the Mitsuwa plaza on Kearny Mesa Road sells used books, manga, games and collectibles at bargain prices. It's a treasure hunt for school-age kids and teens, and it's easy to pair with lunch at the Mitsuwa food court next door.

In 2020, this stretch of Convoy Street was proclaimed the Convoy Pan Asian Cultural and Business Innovation District.
