This 18-acre Logan Heights park has playgrounds, sports fields, a gym and a teen center. Youth flag football, volleyball, baking and craft classes are booked via SDRecConnect.

Chicano Park Museum & Cultural Center
A block from the murals, this museum explains the 1970 takeover and the history behind the park's art through rotating exhibits like 'Pillars: Stories of Resilience.' Kids and teens get in free, and it's wheelchair accessible. Parking is on the street along National and Logan avenues.

Logan Heights Library
This 25,000-square-foot SDPL branch, about half a mile east of Chicano Park, is one of the system's busiest. It has 33 public computers, a cultural center for exhibits and an outdoor space. It's next to Memorial Charter Middle School. Check the branch calendar for storytime and kids' programs.

On the free self-guided crawl, Logan Avenue's galleries, studios and mural spots open their doors, with a vintage and art market at Mercado del Barrio in recent months. Go in the afternoon with kids, since some later stops are bars. Exact hours vary, so check before you go.
FreeChicano Park
Founded in 1970 when residents occupied the site under the Coronado Bridge, the park has the world's largest outdoor collection of Chicano murals painted on the bridge pillars. It's a National Historic Landmark, and the murals depict Chicano and Mexican history and culture. Free public Wi-Fi is available. For group tours, email the Chicano Park Steering Committee's tour coordinator.

This yearly commemoration of the park's founding brings lowrider cars, live music, vendor booths and community festivities under the bridge. It's very crowded, so take the Blue Line trolley to the Barrio Logan station instead of driving.
