Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park
Wide, stroller-friendly canyon trails with shaded creek crossings and big oak meadows — an easy intro to hiking for kids. The 4,500-acre wilderness park opened in 1990 and stretches across five South County cities, with more than 30 miles of trails for hikers, cyclists, and equestrians. It's one of the largest urban wilderness parks in California, so even a short walk in feels far from the surrounding neighborhoods.
