We visited Vasquez Rocks Natural Area on a day trip and had a great time. There is plenty of parking available, and restroom facilities are provided for visitors, making it easy to spend a few hours exploring the area. The hiking trails are enjoyable and offer beautiful views of the unique rock formations and surrounding landscape. It’s a peaceful place to walk, take photos, and appreciate nature. The visitor center is also a nice addition for those interested in learning more about the area’s geology and history. Overall, Vasquez Rocks is a wonderful destination for a day trip, with great scenery, easy hiking trails, and good visitor amenities. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable outdoor experience.

Amazing rock formations. I took the longest trail that is here - the Apwinga Loop Trail (3.4 miles) + the Rock Shelter Vista Trail (.25 miles). Great views along these trails. So much to see. Highly recommend!

Favorite local hike that my young boys and I frequent. Its really gorgeous and green during Fall- Spring after all that cool weather and rain. I prefer hiking when its cool because there's not a ton of shade but there's plenty of opportunities to rest and eat a snack on a rock. I would caution about taking dogs with it getting hot and burning their paws on hot rocks.

We were visiting the area and read about this place as a must see. It is a hidden gem with unique rock formations and has good hiking trails. We learned that several movies were filmed here. The Star Trek Historic Film Site was dramatic.

There are hiking paths for all types of ages and abilities! There are picnic tables and bathrooms as well as the nature center. The nature center has live snakes to learn about & watch out for as you hike, as well as movie posters that have been made at that location!
