Los Rios Historic District

San Juan Capistrano, CA

Free to stroll

The San Juan Capistrano Historical Society calls Los Rios the oldest continuously inhabited street in California; the National Register district (listed 1983) mixes 1790s adobes such as the Montanez Adobe with 1800s board-and-batten cottages. It sits right across the tracks from the train depot, so it pairs easily with a Metrolink ride or the Mission. Many of the cottages are still private homes, so keep kids on the street and in the public shops and cafes.
