The city lists Shaw's Cove among its top tide-pooling spots, and Laguna Ocean Foundation rates the south side beginner-to-moderate (2.5 ft tide or lower). Laguna's tide pools are a Marine Protected Area: look, don't touch or take anything, and never turn over rocks.
