Docent was well spoken and very knowledgeable. The tour was very informative. I have visited several times over the years and have learned something new each visit. It is a charming place and a must-see for any aspiring architect, interior designer, landscaper or art and crafts era enthusiasts. Or equally enjoyable if you are just after a nice walk. I'll no doubt be back again soon.

Was drawn to the place due to its connection to Back to the Future. How tremendous to see Doc Brown's mansion! The architecture is fascinating. The tour was really great. The guide was well versed and had some great stories. Got to see almost the entire house. Check in at the garage/gift shop next door, wait in line for the bathroom, and head on over to the patio to wait for the tour. Came here Sunday afternoon early March 2026. Tour groups I think are 12 in size. I booked in advance day of (like 2-3 hours prior). Parking was pretty easy right in front. Not a ton of parking but seemed to be sufficient for the relatively small tour groups. Place is in great shape with lots of original furniture and materials.

Pasadena is unsurpassed in Craftsman architecture. There is nowhere else in the world where you will find blocks of perfectly restored Craftsman homes. I lived in Pasadena for four years a couple of decades ago and when in town I still come upon Craftsman-lined streets I'm unfamiliar with. One of the finest examples and the only Craftsman where you can see the interior (you can also check out open houses) is the Greene & Greene designed Gamble House, once owned by U.S.C., but now the property of Pasadena. This tour is worthy of your time, even on a short vacation, and is to the Craftsman style what the Stahl House is to modernism. If you have a week in L.A., consider booking both. Much of the furniture is original; the ceiling lamps, cabinets and kitchen all stunning period art. Afterwards, I would recommend walking the streets in almost any direction, but particularly behind and east of the Gamble, where you will find a Frank Lloyd Wright, more Greene & Greenes and one of the most attractive neighborhoods imaginable for strolling.
