This is a rugged 1,574-acre chaparral wilderness with 8 miles of trails, oak and sycamore streamside pockets, and several lookouts. The trails are long and hilly, so they're better for teens and experienced young hikers than for toddlers. The county closes it every August because of extreme heat.
