The 822-foot summit gives 360-degree views over the ocean, downtown, Coronado and, on clear days, Mexico, and it's an easy drive-up stop. The walls hold thousands of engraved plaques honoring veterans, so it's a natural place to talk with kids about service. Ceremonies are held on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
