The Ronald Reagan Library is an iconic place. He was the first president I had vivid memories of, and I got goosebumps seeing his jelly bean jar on display — I remember him loving jelly beans from when I was a kid. His actual Air Force One 707 and Marine One helicopter sit in a beautiful hangar, and it was surreal walking through the plane. It's the last Boeing 707 to ever serve as Air Force One. It's a beautiful place to go learn and spend the day with family.
💡 Local tip: Look for the portrait of Reagan made entirely out of about 10,000 Jelly Belly jelly beans — it's easy to miss but it's a fun one for kids. No advance reservation is needed, walk-ups are fine, and weekday mornings right at 10am opening are the quietest time to go. Don't skip the grounds on your way out — the Reagan gravesite overlooking the ocean is included with admission, and kids can also crawl through a mock Berlin Wall escape tunnel inside the museum.

After being to many other presidential libraries, I found the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley to be especially imposing, with its large hilltop setting and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. You will need several hours to fully see and explore it. The museum features major exhibits such as the Air Force One Pavilion, where visitors can walk through the actual presidential plane used by Reagan and several other presidents. It also includes a Marine One helicopter, a replica Oval Office, and even a section of the Berlin Wall, highlighting key moments from his presidency. One unusual feature is a recreated Irish pub that was transported from Ireland after Reagan visited it. If you are in the area, this is a must stop. It was a VERY well thought out museum and had SO much to see and do. The exhibits were very informative and many were hands-on. Make sure you leave about 3 hours to really take everything in. It could have easily taken 4 hours but I had to go so I stayed 3. There were many picture opportunities and it was such a big museum with many people to direct where to go next. The museum was well-layed out and had people to help direct you in the correct path to take. There was a timeline path about the life of Nancy and Ronald Reagan. There is full sized Air Force I, Marine I, presidential motorcade, a piece of the Berlin Wall, fighter jets and much much more (Including a replica room of the Oval Office). This a must do!
