The wide stretch of sand at the north end of town, where the San Gabriel River meets the ocean, served by the 1st Street beach lot. City rules ban swimming and bodyboarding in the river channel at any time. There are also no dogs, no fires or BBQs, and no tents on the beach (shade structures must be open on two sides).
