Flat paths and little arched bridges wind through the Venice Canal Historic District, a residential neighborhood a few blocks from the beach between Venice and Washington boulevards. Allow at least 45 minutes, watch for ducks, herons and egrets, and keep kids close to the water's edge. There is no visitor parking inside; look for street parking on the perimeter.
