This place is amazing! Many beautiful, colorful, thought- provoking pieces. The photography was also great, I especially enjoyed the Civil Rights movements pictures. We went during Cheech’s b-day celebration and he was there!!! Seems like a down to earth guy! (The downtown area has many gorgeous buildings- just across the street is an inn from 1876!)

The museum is free the first Sunday of every month and every Sunday in the summer months; check for dates. It is so nice to have a museum that focuses on Chicono/a culture. The museum focuses more on collections from artists and is primarily framed artwork and a few sculptures. I was expecting more of a historical exhibition on Chicano/a culture and a wider display of different types of art.

Please don't miss out on this gem! This was so much more than I expected it to be. The breadth of work, the quality of work, the urgent relevancy of it all, is something to experience.

I had not heard of this museum until I saw in on CBS Sunday Morning so I decided to go check it out. What a great collection of Chicano artworks and such a great story behind Cheech. They only had one floor open when we were there since they were changing out works of the other two floors. If you are in the Riverside area, this should be on your list of things to do and see. Also, downtown Riverside is a hidden gem of great architecture and a wonderful place to walk around.

Very emotional, cried twice once at the old wino and Marta Sanchez Uvalde, colorful, very sad. The whole museum is very relaxed and comfortable. So many paintings are so powerful in the technique colors and content. Cheech has great taste in Art. The photo collection was warm, a slice of life, very real. This is a gem of a museum. Highly recommend a visit
