  I wish I knew about this amazing pet hospital much sooner. Our dog was really sick, I took her to this facility for a second opinion, what a great place. Very friendly staff, polite, caring, great prices, with lots of love for animals, and their owners. Dr. Clark is an amazing doctor. She’s a true angel with a big heart. Unfortunately we had to put our dog to sleep. The day of, Dr. Clark and the amazing nurses put lots of love and support to our dog and us. It’s been a month since we lost our Ava, I came home and found a beautiful sympathy card with everyone’s signature in our mail box🤍 I highly recommend this hospital. Thanks to everyone at Helen Woodward hospital .

  I took my dog Loki to Helen Woodward Animal Hospital today because he kept yelping for no reason, which is completely out of character for him. Loki is quiet most of the time; it’s why we chose him. The day we adopted him he had a big dog on one side barking and a little dog on the other side barking at the big dog, and he was just in the middle chilling and not making a sound. Yelping is not like him. He only does it when he is in pain. This had been going on since Friday. We took him to the vet near us, but the vet was male and had no bedside manner, so Loki hid and refused to let the vet examine him. We then contacted a virtual vet through Chewy and they said he needed to be seen in person. We called yesterday to schedule an appointment. They called early in the morning and left a message. I saw a text I thought was from them that I later found out wasn’t, so when I showed up I thought we were all square. When I arrived they couldn’t find the appointment. The woman with the cat-eye mascara kept asking twenty questions, and I told her straight up I understand he doesn’t have an appointment but he needs to be seen today. Eventually one of the vet techs said the doctors had an opening at 4. I had my toddler with me and there was no way she was going to sit still for an hour, so I asked if she could play on the playground across the street. The vet tech said we had to ask in the other building. We drove over and asked inside. The lady at the desk said dogs can’t be on the playground or in that building. My daughter was asking for water, so I asked if they had some. She brought water out for my toddler and we waited outside. Now that my toddler was sated she wanted to run around and explore in true toddler fashion. There was a wide open gate that she walked through. Loki and I followed. She eventually made her way to the playground. Since we had already been told Loki couldn’t be on the playground, I tied him up far away from it and went to play with my daughter. I could still see both of them and he was not on the playground. Two minutes later a lady came striding across the street saying there had been reports of a dog on the playground. I clearly showed her my dog was not on the playground. Five minutes later another lady came saying the same thing. Then a third lady came and said we couldn’t play there at all. By that point I was more than a little upset. I was just trying to distract my toddler for an hour while we waited for Loki’s appointment. The place was completely deserted with no kids anywhere, yet they treated us like we were trespassing even though the gate and door were wide open and there was no signage saying we couldn’t be there. So we left the playground and sat on a bench in the shade. Ten minutes later they sent out a guy who said dogs cannot be anywhere on the premises and called it a “closed campus.” When we finally went back at 4, the same woman with the cat-eye mascara started asking twenty questions again while my toddler was running everywhere and I was trying to catch her. Eventually Loki was seen. The vet tech with the Harry Potter glasses and black curly hair was very nice, and the vet was also kind. She examined Loki and said he most likely had a muscle strain or pinched nerve and prescribed painkillers. Overall this was an abysmal experience. Out of the eight employees I encountered today, only two were kind to me. It reminded me why we haven’t been there in three years. The people Helen Woodward hires are not people friendly and seem to lack empathy when it comes to humans. The only reason we came is because Loki feels safe there and would let the vet examine him. I wrote my original review while waiting for Loki's appointment. This review has been edited to include more of what happened. Truly atrocious behavior.
