Talbert Nature Preserve
Costa Mesa, CA

Just southwest of Fountain Valley, this nearly 200-acre nature preserve has almost 3 miles of flat, easy trails perfect for young hikers and stroller-pushing parents. With only about 100 feet of elevation it's a gentle intro to hiking, and it connects to the Santa Ana River Trail. Go early to spot birds before the day heats up.

This is a lovely park with trails throughout the preserve and one that goes to the beach! Always wildflowers here and many people hiking, biking, or walking their dogs. There is also a picnic and day-use area that is always full of people enjoying the day. Some of the trails are paved making it easier for walking and biking. This is a lovely place to spend part of your day!

When the long days of work are over, I always enjoy walking around the Talbert Nature Preserve for some fresh air and good energy. A great place for a walk with family or friends, or even with a pup or by yourself. Beautiful smells of sagebrush and saltwater wherever you go. If you make a trip here, try to pick up some trash during the walk. It will make you feel good about yourself knowing that your helping the beautiful place that your enjoying. This is a place for selflessness and positivity, so leave that city mentality behind for a minute and just breathe it in.

The fishing use to be great. Way too many gross homeless people walking around and camping near the lake. I found meth while fishing a couple months ago. Stick to the path, don't go too deep into the bushes.

Had a nice walk. It's not very big so you can't get lost. Cool bike track for bmx. Sad to see so many homeless looking for refuge here. I wouldn't go at nite

Typical walk. Nothing particularly cool to see but just nice to walk leisurely. Careful of the bikes that seem to fly by.
