  I am a small business vender who works in Rialto with my 3 children. I have been going to this library since I was a child. I recently moved back to California and I have been fleeing domestic violence and homelessness. I got out the hospital yesterday and I had nowhere to go, so I went to the Rialto library. Leslie told me I could rest and relax. I had a severe headache which caused me to fall asleep in the library. A short Hispanic security guard asked me not to sleep, so I woke up, but I had my head down because I still had a headache. They then asked me to leave, but kept hovering over me and my three kids as if me sleeping was a crime, but I had woken up after the first time they asked me. And the security guard was hovering over my kids and he didn’t stop when I asked. I understand it’s policy not to sleep in the library, but if that’s the case, put it on the wall or a sign. I asked them to stop hovering over me and my kids because my experiences with abuse make me extremely uncomfortable with people hovering over me and I made them aware of my reason and they still disrespected my presence with their hovering. I told them I was going to leave but they kept hovering over me. I left the library, but I’m writing this review because how can you expect the public to care about your policies you don’t even write down but also, how can you ask for respect for the library when your workers have no respect for my HUMANITY?? My policy matters too and if I ask you to step back away from my personal space, then move. Your job can be taken away from you, but I’m dealing with homelessness, abuse and I just wanted a SAFE PLACE to be. Sorry for being human, but Leslie and that Hispanic security guard are NOT the definition of safety in a place that’s supposed to be safe for moms and children. Do as you wish with your policies, but humanity comes first. I am not Ai. I AM NOT a criminal. I am a mother who just wanted a safe place to be, but the Rialto library will no longer be that safe place for me. And since this is a REVIEW…. I in fact don’t recommend taking your kids to this library anyways. There’s not enough fun or engaging things for kids to do on daily, inside the library and I’m not talking about events…and I would know, I visit libraries all over the country, because I travel. But the Rialto library is super boring on a daily for children especially. I recommend the Highland library or anywhere else. This is not a safe place for moms, especially tired moms with energetic children. Anyways, I AM RIALTO and more people will hear about this because there’s already so many people in my city suffering and we don’t need WORKERS who don’t care about us. That’s why I vend, to help my city and the people who have nowhere to sleep. I don’t recommend this library for humanity tho. Just go and get a book and leave. Leslie said I could rest. She lied. Zero stars for her and that short Hispanic security guard who made me feel highly UNSAFE. And for those who are homeless and for the tired moms, you are seen and heard and valued. Please know that. Don’t let Anybody, especially workers make you feel like you don’t belong on earth. They may kick us out their buildings for breaking policies nobody but them are aware of, they may disrespect your boundaries, but they aren’t GOD, you are seen and loved. This is our city and we belong here nonetheless. Ps. You don’t judge a business by how they handle things when things go their way. You judge based on how they treat people when things don’t. And they did not act as humans should. All they had to do was respect me like I was being asked to respect the library. I don’t recommend them as workers, and I don’t recommend this library as a place for families . That’s my review. And it matters because I represent Rialto too. You never know who’s gonna come into your presence. Be careful how you treat people. Humanity matters, more than our businesses. Humans are the reason we start business anyways. Shout out to all the other USA library’s where they allow you to rest. Rialto is not one.
