Galster Wilderness Park
West Covina, CA

★★★★★4.3(475 Google reviews)
A 42-acre patch of real California wilderness in the San Jose Hills, with short kid-friendly loop trails (the main loop is under a mile) winding through one of the last stands of native black walnut trees. The little Nature Center has hands-on exhibits and native animal mounts younger kids love. Trails are exposed, so bring hats, sunscreen and water, and go in the morning.

Some of the trails are nice, but there is graffiti and litter. The water wasn't working in the bathroom and sketchy people were hanging out. There are stairs to an overlook in the parking area

Great place for a little hike with kids, is short, it has a playground and you are surrounded by nature. We seen ratle snakes, and coyotes so be careful

Beautiful park and trails to hike but the crowd can sometimes be sketchy. A lot of random bathroom hooking up and drug use. Still a beautiful spot if you can look past those unsavory elements. Dog friendly but lots of coyotes and snakes.

Stumbled upon this park today... The park is great, I just wish visitors would be more respectful and not graffiti and litter so much. But I loved all the plaques along trails that provide info about plants in the park. The park has fun, short trails and a playground next to a parking lot and small nature center. There are also open grassy spaces, lots of trees and shade, and a campground (I have no info about it). I had so much fun and learned a few things so I'm giving it 5 stars.

Lots and lots of shade! Even though it was 90 degrees outside, I still felt the breeze. Not a lot of people were on this trail.. probably cause it was a warmer day. Parking wise… park inside the gate if its open!! Some people parked on the streets not knowing that the opened gate is for this trail.
