Grant Rea Park

Montebello, CA

★★★★★4.5(1,228 Google reviews)

The big green hub of Montebello — ball fields, picnic tables, a playground and the barnyard zoo all in one spot. Families pair a free morning at the playground with a paid loop through the petting zoo next door. Parking is free, but the lot fills on weekend mornings when sports leagues play, so arrive early and grab a shaded table.

We have our schools events here. Can't beat it. Benches near the water play are that turn on at about 11am. Cute little party/gathering spot. They also have a barn yard zoo. $10 and a lot of grassy area. Baseball fields and bbqs

My first time visiting Grant Rea Park.. entered through the Rio Hondo lower bike trail just south of the Rio Hondo Dam.. large park with plenty of baseball fields well maintained.. picnic benches for gatherings special occasions and barbecues.. this park runs alongside the barn yard zoo and batting cages which also run alongside the Rio Hondo lower bike trail.. very nice park with well maintained bathrooms also . Located in the city of Montebello..

I loved taking my baby to this park. Nice shaded playground. There's two playgrounds one for older kids and one for toddlers. There's also swings. People also ride their horses by the park.

Was a nice little place in which to kill a bit of time with the kiddos. I was a little surprised at the size of the zoo, though. We took our time walking, as we had two small boys with us, yet we still finished the entire walk-through in about 45 minutes. The train ride, (obviously) was also quite short. Therefore, in my opinion, that attraction was way overpriced at 6.50/ person. We paid 26.00 for a five minute trip around the same area we'd just walked through. But, the kids truly enjoyed seeing the animals, although they were too scared to actually pet any. Since I had a Groupon for a $15.50 admission for 4 to the zoo(the train was not included), I'd say that it was definitely worth the price. Probably not worth full price, though. . .

The ambience in incredible the staff super friendly. I asked for my ribeye medium rare and it was a medium well. For a steak place they should be more carefull on that aspect . Also it took a long time to clear our plates off the table from appetizers to main course and the after.
