Mendez Tribute Monument Park
Westminster, CA
Free
By Simir Shah
This small park at 7371 Westminster Blvd honors Mendez v. Westminster, the 1940s school-desegregation case. It began when Sylvia Mendez and her brothers were turned away from the 17th Street School because of their Mexican heritage. The park was dedicated in December 2022 with statues, and it is a short, meaningful stop for school-age kids learning civil-rights history.
