  Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is truly a Los Angeles treasure. I’ve been coming here for years, since I was in high school, and it’s beautiful to see how much it has grown while still keeping its small, welcoming aquarium feel. For their 90th anniversary, I really appreciate the upgrades they’ve made. The aquarium feels more modernized, the exhibits are beautiful, and there is so much to learn, but it still feels personal and connected to the community. I also love that it is free to the public, with the option to donate and support the work they do. This is a great place for children and families. They offer hands-on activities for younger kids, whale watching experiences, beach cleanup days, and educational programs for schools and field trips. As someone in education, I really value places like this that make learning fun, accessible, and meaningful. Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is a special place, and I’m grateful it continues serving the community after 90 years.

  Small aquarium with plenty of fossils and preserved specimens. Lab is open for students to learn about how abalone and small crustaceans develop. Main hall is closed. A small touch pool outside. Recommended donations but no entrance fee. It used to be in the bathing area and bathroom across the parking lot according to the aquarium. Looks a lot nicer now at this location. Probably better for younger kids as it doesn’t take too long to see it all with renovations ongoing.

  I recently attended a KCRW event at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and was surprised I'd never been before. It's a beautiful aquarium with a great mix of exhibits, interactive touch tanks, and educational displays focused on Southern California marine life. Admission is free with a suggested donation, making it an affordable outing for families. The staff and volunteers were friendly, and the whole place had a welcoming atmosphere. If you're looking for something fun and educational plus cost effective then I definitely recommend this

  It is a wonderful learning center. We learned so much while we were here. We went during the rain but it didn’t spoil the awesomeness of the aquarium. They said they will be open April 2026. I will for sure make it then.

  I wanted to get out and about on Saturday instead of laying on the couch like always, so we drove here from Torrance. it was worth the drive! parking is very cheap but they don’t take cash, only card. entry is free but for two adults we chose to donate $20. all in all, it was well worth the $22 we spent! the bathrooms were clean, accessible and had hot water, soap, toilet paper, and seat covers. yes, some of the exhibits are closed until April, but it was still a great time. we look forward to being back when the exhibits are reopened. we are two adults with a baby on the way but this would be a kid’s paradise. there’s a coffee shop there but we didn’t visit but I know most people like offset coffee, and the gift shop was adorable - didn’t buy anything because of our baby on the way, but everything was a reasonable price and the workers were very nice. the beach area was beautiful, if we had worn different shoes we would have gone on a better walk but seeing all the boats, water, and beautiful houses too made it the perfect date.
