Hillside park with hiking trails, a Moorish-style library, and shady picnic spots. Built in 1904 as timber baron Leslie Brand's mansion, El Miradero, the building's domes and minarets were inspired by the East Indian Pavilion at Chicago's 1893 World's Fair. Brand left the estate to the city on the condition it become a public library and park, which happened in 1956, and the grounds still include a small Japanese garden, a restored Victorian house-museum, and a hiking loop into the Verdugo foothills.

What a unique building nestled in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains overlooking the San Fernando Valley. Beautiful adjacent park grounds adding to the atmosphere. Friendly staff and a diverse selection of books to browse and plenty of space to spread out and read or study
