Things to do in Lomita
Lomita Railroad Museum
Small museum at 2137 W 250th St with a Southern Pacific steam locomotive and tender, a 1910 Union Pacific caboose, a Santa Fe caboose, a 1923 Union Oil tank car and a 1913 Southern Pacific boxcar. There are no train rides, it is only open Fri–Sun, and it takes about an hour. Irene Lewis Park next door works for a picnic.

A 7-acre city park at 24424 Eshelman Ave with children's play areas, three picnic shelters, tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court and a softball diamond.
FreeTakaishi Japanese Garden & Demonstration Garden
A small city garden at 24300 Narbonne Ave, next to the library, with walking paths, Japanese-style statues and rocks, and a drought-tolerant demonstration garden with labeled plants. A short stop, easy to combine with the library next door.
FreeLomita Library (LA County Library)
County library at 24200 Narbonne Ave with a children's area and early-learning services. Storytime times weren't published where we checked, so call 310-539-4515 before going for a program.
