Welcome to the YourSoCal Blog

Hi — I'm Simir. If you've spent any time on this site, you already know the basics: I'm a Mission Viejo dad of two (a K-pop-obsessed teenager and a nine-year-old), and I built YourSoCal because I got tired of scrolling five different sites every weekend trying to figure out what to actually do with my family.
The site itself — the distance-sorted finder, the city guides, the events calendar, the Hidden Gems page — is the reference. This blog is going to be the running commentary: what's actually worth your Saturday, what we tried as a family and whether it held up, and what's new around Southern California that we think is worth knowing about.
What to expect
- A new post most weeks — tied to what's actually happening (a new spot we've added, a real event, a seasonal window like tide pools or fall colors)
- Honest, not promotional — if a place isn't worth the drive, we'll say so
- Short. This isn't going to be a 3,000-word SEO essay disguised as a blog post
If you want these in your inbox as they go up — along with the weekly picks and a shot at the $50 giveaway — the newsletter signup is at the bottom of every page. And if you're on Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest, we post there too — links in the footer.
That's it for post one. See you next week.
