Ventura Land Trust's 2,123-acre preserve has dirt trails with views of the coast and the Channel Islands, and the lower canyon makes an easy family out-and-back walk. Park free at the trailhead off McVittie Place (7511 Foothill Rd), or on Kimball Road if the lot is full. Leashed dogs may go only as far as the 1.8-mile marker, and e-bikes aren't allowed. Upper Harmon Canyon past Long Canyon Road remains closed with no repair timeline, and the whole preserve closes after rain, so check closure updates before you go.
