$3 daily parking (2026 official)
By Simir Shah
OC Parks' 7,000-acre wilderness has about 40 miles of trails through oak and sycamore canyons; the Willow staging area on Laguna Canyon Road is the in-town trailhead, and the Nix Nature Center (18751 Laguna Canyon Rd., north of the 73) has family exhibits, scavenger hunts and free ranger-led family hikes. The nature center is open Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and Sat–Sun 9 a.m.–2 p.m., and dogs aren't allowed. Trails close for three or more days after rain; OC Parks posted a wet-weather trail closure in late Oct. 2026.
