From our editor — we've been

One of our favorite San Diego staycations is staying at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina and walking out onto the Embarcadero, the waterfront promenade right along San Diego Bay. There are shops, food spots, and street performers, plus a steady view of yachts in the marina and Navy ships out on the bay. You can rent a bike or grab a pedicab to get down the waterfront without wearing everyone out.

💡 Local tip: Street vendors are out in force and it gets genuinely lively on weekends — go early if you want it calmer. There's good seafood all along here, and it's an easy, flat walk for kids of any age.

A mile-long waterfront promenade along San Diego Bay, running past Seaport Village, the Maritime Museum, and the Broadway Pier, with the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina anchoring its northern end. Street performers and vendors cluster near Seaport Village, pedicabs run the length of the bayfront, and the view regularly includes yachts docked in the marina alongside Navy ships out on the bay — a legacy of Naval Base San Diego's presence just across the water.
