A calm-water beach on Alamitos Bay at 5415 E. Ocean Blvd., protected from ocean waves by the Peninsula, with a designated swim area, swim dock, a playground next to the sand, restrooms and showers. In summer, Bay Shore Ave. closes to cars and becomes a walk-and-bike promenade; kayak and paddleboard rentals are next door.
