  We rented a trailer through RVshare and had it delivered to Lake Casitas. Campground was nice and clean. The biggest issue we had was the power going out for almost an hour. It was very hot that day and apparently the campground can't handle the draw from all the air conditioners running. Most of us were outside anyways since we are camping but I was also trying to cook food on my electric pellet grill when the power went out. So that was annoying. We did visit the Waterpark area. It's great for kids but not really worth it as an adult since you can't bring in an adult beverage refreshment and they don't sell them either. The only option if you want to relax is to float in the lazy river and get splashed by kids. There is no swimming pool to just lay in or simply chill. We wound up just sitting at one of the large entrances to the lazy river to simply sit in the water and relax. I will say we were able to sneak in a cocktail but they do check ur bags and water tumblers.

  Lake Casitas Recreation Area is a large campground with a lot to offer, but it comes with some limitations to be aware of. Most of the sites are geared toward tent camping that have access to the lake. However, RV sites with full hookups are very limited. We stayed in site E2, which was level and had electric and water hookups, so that worked well for us. I travel with inflatable stand-up paddle boards and had to check them at the gate because the lake is not open for human contact, so no swimming or body contact. The on-site water adventure park looks fun, but it is not included in the camping price, and we were told by a ranger that prices will be increasing with only 1/2 day access this season (open Memorial Day weekend) due to high demand. It’s a very large campground, so bringing bikes is a great idea to make getting around easier. Overall, it’s a decent place to camp if you know what to expect, but the restrictions and added costs brought it down to a 3-star experience for us.
