Walk out the pier to the Ruby's Diner at the very end for shakes, then play on the wide sand beside it. The 614-space city lot at Palm St and Balboa Blvd is a short walk from the Fun Zone and the Balboa Island Ferry. The pier was closed after Tropical Storm Rachel's surf in October 2026 and has since reopened, but the city warns of more king-tide flooding on the Peninsula this fall and winter, so check conditions first.
