Pro Tip#1: Golf cart rentals are a great way to see the hills surrounding Avalon, viewing the overall area without walking, and picking up a few extra grocery items at Von's instead of hiking up the hills of downtown. If you don't want to walk, rent a golf cart. Pro Tip#2: The line to rent the golf carts fills up fast, so make this your first stop when you get dropped of at the dock. The line becomes a little chaotic, fills up quickly, and it's VERY loud when you check in. You can't hear much of anything when they're telling you the rules of what you can and cannot do. I think it's a little shady having to pay a cash deposit (which you won't see back again) to rent a golf cart when you have to also secure the transaction with a credit/debit card by the hour. I suppose all of the golf cart rental places on the island do the same thing, but be sure to pay attention to what TIME you leave their location. It is definitely worthwhile to rent a cart as you will see more of the island in a much shorter amount of time than by walking or riding an e-bike. They recommend a couple of different trails that encompass the city and hillsides of Avalon which offer amazing views of the harbor and beyond. NOTE: Pay attention to the clock while riding around or they'll charge you a prorated rate by each 15 minutes you go over. They DO NOT allow you to take the golf carts into the interior of the island...that type of trip is reserved for tour guide vehicles ONLY. Unless you are going to pay for the entire day, you can pretty much go from Wrigley Mansion to Casino Point within a couple of hours with a couple of short breaks to get out and take pictures. If you plan on visiting any specific site it's better to get a taxi or rent the cart for the entire day. Except for having to pay cash up front, this was a good experience and we were able to take a lot of nice pictures of the Avalon area.

It is crazy expensive. But it was worth the trip. The backcountry is beautiful and tough to explore on foot. You can trek it but it does get super hot and doesnt have much coverage from the sun. So the golf cart is a good option. Do keep in mind you need cash.
