Nearly 100 aircraft, many still airworthy — weekends you can climb inside the B-17. Pair it with Yanks Air Museum next door for an aviation day.

Visited Planes of Fame Air Museum recently. The museum has a fairly large property, but the actual number of aircraft on display isn’t as large as I expected. Most of the collection focuses on World War II aircraft, so it’s a good stop if that’s your main interest. One interesting part was being able to see volunteers and staff working on restoring vintage aircraft and helping keep them airworthy. It’s always nice to see these historic planes being preserved and maintained. That said, some of the hangars felt a bit crowded, with aircraft packed closely together, making it harder to appreciate individual exhibits. There were a few unique displays, including some late-war German experimental aircraft and rocket-powered concepts, which stood out from the rest of the collection. I was also surprised that the P-38 Hangar mainly featured photos and displays about the aircraft rather than an actual P-38. There is an outdoor display area as well, but many of the aircraft stored outside and in some of the hangars didn’t appear to be maintained as well as those at the nearby Yanks Air Museum. Admission is also $20. Overall, I personally found this museum a little less impressive than Yanks Air Museum. It’s still worth visiting if you’re a WWII aviation enthusiast, but for most visitors, I think one to one and a half hours is enough to see everything.

I took my son to explore the planes from WWII since he loves planes. The museum did not disappoint. There are numerous planes and other items from the late 1930s thru present. All of the volunteers were informative and friendly. I would recommend taking two-three hours to enjoy all and not feel rushed since it is spread out. We went on a Friday morning around 11 and it was not crowded which allowed us to go at a nice pace. If you go during the school year, call to find out if they are giving a tour to schools. Highly recommend checking out. Prices are on the website, $20adult/$10 child, discounts are available for veterans and seniors.

Just happened to visit on a Hangar Talk day before Easter and boy was it a fabulous visit. Docents and staff are super helpful. The exhibits are great as they are jewels of aviation history. Did I mention the AMC muscle cars. Keep this museum and the history of the greatest generation alive.

If you're interested in the history of aviation, you have to visit Planes of Fame! Multiple hangers full of aircraft and aviation related items give you a scope of mainly military aircraft. The staff is great and the gift shop is awesome as well.

Went to the "Wings, Tracks, and Wheels" event today and what an awesome event. You get a chance to go go tomorrow on Sunday for the second day of the event, you won't regret it. This is truly a flying Museum that most people don't get to see. They also had many reenactors of all different armies with many different kinds of tanks, trucks and jeeps as well as military artifacts from the wars. The presentations in the hangar were also very interesting and educational. There are also food trucks with many different types of food and drinks available for lunch. If you get a chance, go!
